Making noise in the Underground Hip- Hop scene, Orlando, Florida native rapper 5an (pronounced “San”) just dropped her newest single called “Happy Place” and it’s one you certainly need to check out.

The song opens with an eerie arpeggio synth and at the beat drop is met with pounding kick drums, bouncy percussion and brisk hi hat rolls. In the song, 5an showcases high pitch auto-tuned vocals, varied repetition and aggressively clipped syllables. Her lyrics are full of boastful lines about money and women.

Demonstrating her own unique style amidst the ever-evolving Alternative Rap world, 5an has a distinctive sound similar to the likes of artists such as Ty Fontaine, Playboi Carti, and Dej Loaf. She helps lead the charge of female rappers exhibiting previously unexplored styles and proving that female artists can create equally unique and new sounding styles.

5an’s passion for music began blossoming at age 10, and recorded her first track at 14 using studio equipment she borrowed from her step-father. Influenced by artists such Lauryn Hill, Queen, and The Weeknd, 5an began releasing her first songs at 17 on YouTube and SoundCloud. 2020 was one of her biggest years in music so far as she released two full projects and 7 singles. One of her most popular tracks is DYIN2LIVE off of her project REIGNofVIRGO.

As she continues to grow in popularity and make a buzz in the underground rap community, we can be sure to expect more great music from 5an heading into the future. You can check out “Happy Place” on all platforms now and follow her on Instagram @slayer5an
