Kristiane / Wish I Could Be Your Girl

Kristiane’s new music video touches on the intimate mindset of feeling hopelessly devoted. Comfortable but vulnerable, this visual piece brings listeners even more closely acquainted with the corners of her mind. Seeing the meaning of the song takes us someplace different. Where her inspiration and artistry intersect, we are somewhere only she knows.

The 22 year-old artist currently resides in Los Angeles and initially got her start in music when she was 14 years old, drawing her inspiration from books and movies as a kid. Premiering today on Early Rising, Kristiane’s video, directed by her twin sister Britt Alphson, takes listeners on the scenic route for her latest release “Wish I Could Be Your Girl.”

“This song is about wishing I could be the archetype of the kind of person that’s easy to be in a relationship,” explains Kristiane.

We step into her world; a dreamy palette of pastels and old fashioned romanticism. It feels warm in its moments of sandy beaches and deep blue ocean waves, but hints at an undertone of sadness in glimpses of Kristiane staring back in the mirror.

Exploring color and emotion, the video makes you feel like you’re watching on an old tape. It is vintage yet current, wistful yet present, beautifully characterizing the sentiment of knowing things can’t be different but wishing they were.
