The Reminders/Crl Crrll “Keep It Together”

The Reminders are back! I repeat, the Reminders are back! The Colorado group, consisting of OG wordsmith Big Samir and honey smooth emcee/vocalist Aja Black, have been relatively quiet for the last year. All good. Emanating from the ashes in true phoenix fashion, they ascend with “Keep It Together” and let me tell you Early-Risers, it is a truly breath of fresh air. The type of air one feels while perambulating through the Pacific Northwest. This song is to the soul as Eucalyptus essential oils are to body. Cleansing. Aja sings mesmerizingly……

“Things Keep falling apart”

How many of us have had that sentiment subconsciously bludgeoning us? Robbing us of our youth, our vitality, and our life’s purpose. Since the global pandemic began, depression is off the charts, suicides have astronomically risen, and drug overdoses are at an all time high. People simply don’t know how to cope with the neurosis. Largest wealth transfer in human history. This is why The Reminders latest offering is so remarkable to me. This song is medicine.

“Don’t hide behind values you don’t follow….. build what you wish to see tomorrow”

Couldn’t agree more Big Samir. Upon corresponding with the emcee via text, he proclaimed this song is a “resilience anthem”. We need resiliency now more than ever. Samir’s verse has all the key elements and inflections of “Golden Era” emcees Grand Puba & Ishamael Butler. Medicine. The wait is over people. The reminders are back to execute their divine calling.
