The North Carolina scene is on the radar once again. Raleigh native Abel Maasho is bringing us an indie pop and alt hip-hop smash with this latest release, “i got it”. Maasho is a 20-year-old ethipian genre-bending artist on the rise who hasn’t stopped popping up on my radar. He recently opened up for Weston Estate with back-to-back shows at the Roxy in Los Angeles and is catching the attention of many people as he continues to grow his fan base. Maasho has been writing songs and making music in his bedroom for three years since the start of his music experimentation in 2019. Inspired by the likeness of Jean Dawson, Dominic Fike, and Tame Impala – Maasho is bringing various Rockstar elements to the Hip-Hop and R&B space.
“I got it” is an experimental twist on indie pop and hip hop that showcases Maasho’s talent through and through. Maasho has been sitting on this song for almost 2 years. He says that the song is about the confidence he had post breakup and that “it represents me trying to find catharsis in life through music, smoking, and experimenting in my teenage life … it represents exactly how I was feeling at the time.”
If you haven’t yet, take a listen to “I got it” in the link below and show Maasho some love! Can’t wait to see what this exciting artist has for us next.
