I don’t know a whole lot about James Mantis. Perhaps that is an element of the mystique. What I do know, is that I have played his newest release, aptly dubbed “SUCKAPUNCH” at least 500 times in the past two weeks since I discovered him on Spotify, promptly after I was listening to a Worry Club song. The great algorithm remains undefeated. Huzzah! Shout out Bill Shakespeare.

James Mantis is entirely ready for stardom. I’ve quoted Bukowski before. He might be unpopular in todays narrative. However, he inspired some of your favorites. Don’t believe me? Look at this. I digress. Bukowski once said “The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.” James Mantis is an outlier. He seems intelligent and fully confident with this one.

Fortunately my fellow Early Risers, Mr. Mantis simply gives no fucks. There is an organic amount of everything you love within this song. Fans of Slow Thai & Jean Dawson will have this one on repeat. Chef’s kiss. James Mantis is Bobby Fischer with the Chess Game. I followed him on Spotify and I suggest you do the same. I can tell this is the beginning of something truly special. I just suggest you stay the fuck out of his way. The man has hands.
