Williamsburg, VA native, Zekey, is one of those artists who you know has a big career ahead of him – it’s not a matter of if he will pop off, it’s a matter of when it will happen. I’ve been following Zekey’s journey for some time now dating back to 2020, but it wasn’t until the middle of last year when I had my first opportunity to cover him and to watch his growth in that time frame has been tremendous. Whether it’s collabs with Koastle and Charly Jordan, or building up his own singles through hype on tiktok and socials, Zekey has been making great strides throughout 2022 and today I’m elated to have him back on the E.R. page to present quite possibly my favorite single from him to date.
Released back on May 10th, “I Been Thinking About You” is Zekey’s newest offering and one that is sure to grab the attention of the up-and-coming scene and beyond. In “I Been Thinking About You”, Zekey brings us a flavorful blend of pop and rap that’ll make you realize how versatile he truly is. A musical savant, Zekey paints a picture that is clear as day in the song as he plots on the possibility of rekindling love with a girl that he’s had some history with and wants to take it a step further. In the song, Zekey showcases a great deal of impressive lyricism, but debatably what stands out even more is his knack for ear-wormy melodies. Not many rappers I know are able to hook you in, in the way that a Zekey record does and that certainly is true in “I Been Thinking About You”.
That said, there’s a ton to latch onto with this record and I have a sense that there’s only going to be hits in the future from the L.A. based artist, so be sure to stay tapped in with Zekey.
