This 6-track collection includes “Whatshisface”, “HARD TO LOVE”, and “20 Nothing,” as well as brand new tracks titled, “Mouthwash“, “nothing about anything – demo“, and “Girl in the Mirror.” The project was executive produced by Drew Polovick (Big Machine Publishing), and comes as a collaboration with JORDY (Prescription Songs), UPSAHL (UMPG), James Droll (Prescription Songs), Nydge (Assemble Sound), Gucci Caliente (Nordic Music Partners), Jonny Shorr, Katie Donnelly, and Josh Greenberger.
Speaking about the meaning behind the project, OSTON shares, “‘Melancholia’ is defined as “a deep sadness or gloom”, but to me, it holds such a deeper meaning than that – it’s the feeling that the “best” version of yourself is right there next to you, close enough to touch, but never seems to stick around for very long. For me, that feeling perfectly encapsulates an age, a stage of life that we call our 20-somethings.” She continues, “My record ‘Melancholia’ dives into this feeling of limbo and the meaning behind it. Your 20’s are far from glamorous. It’s some of the absolute best and some of the absolute worst times. It’s a constant state of uncertainty.”
OSTON is truly an incredible artist while also being extremely underrated. If you’re a fan of OSTON like I am, you won’t want to miss her first official headline show on Tuesday, September 13th at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles.
